Stick With It
Overcoming barriers to treatment adherence
Infusion therapy is a commitment—a big one at that. A lot of people assume it’s easy to stick to a prescribed course of medical treatment, but as with any routine, it requires time and dedication to incorporate it successfully into your life.
Over the years, I’ve seen the challenges people face when trying to stick to an infusion schedule. And I believe the most common roadblock to maintaining a routine is avoidance.
When something seems scary or unpleasant, it’s normal to find ways to avoid it. This is especially true if you’re facing a chronic condition. After managing all of life’s responsibilities—work, family, school, relationships—how do you find the mental energy to tackle something that seems so overwhelming?
But avoiding infusions can cause serious issues. In my experience, patients with a strong support network tend to have the most motivation to stay healthy. My hope is that you recognize ARJ as a strong part of your support network.
If you’re struggling to stick to your treatment routine, we can help you customize a plan that realistically fits your lifestyle. After all, support does not begin and end with one treatment.
